Mission Statement

We are an inclusive community striving to empower underrepresented and underserved scientists in the Microbiology Department at the University of Pennsylvania. We aim to create an environment where underrepresented and underserved scientists thrive by:  

·       Empowering our voices and contributions

·       Building community

·       Become educated and enlightened to existing inequities

·       Mitigating unconscious bias and tools for discussion of bias at large

·       Diminishing imposter syndrome

·       Identifying and taking actions to make the department aware, just and inclusive

·       Eliminating the weight of microaggressions and increase microaffirmations
